DescriptionSpacious and light 2 bedroom flat with 1 bathroom and separate toilet. Sizable kitchen with lots of bic's. Open-plan lounge and dining room areas. Enclosed balcony. A must to see!! Central is known for its rich history and many interesting land marks. It is close to St. George's Hospital, an excellent private hospital, the St. Georges cricket grounds, which holds many sport events, the Nelson Mandela Art Museum, Oasis medical center and St. George's Park where the all time family favorite "art in the park", that is held on the first Sunday of every month. Who knows, maybe you could even participate in selling your crafts and hobbies! A great stress reliever!
This area is quiet and peaceful, yet it is close to everything essential, for example schools, businesses and lots of shops... You will have the best of both worlds! Another great aspect of this part of town is the rich culture and history that took place. This could be perfect for those who take an interest in history. To name a few is the first meeting of the Kiosan, British, German, and Dutch and Xhosa people. Central was the place where the settlers chose to land in 1820, they saw the potential of this area and so can you! There is also a museum close to the area. Central can also be inspiration to those studying or who is interested in Architecture, it boasts some of the finest architectural attractions in South Africa. The Bay offers a wealth of treasures in as far as historical attractions go, museums and places of interest, which are guaranteed to provide a journey of discovery through its diverse history and culture. As you can see this is the heart of Port Elizabeth and the place to be. It used to be the city's first town square!
Other place to keep in mind is the very interesting Fort Frederick which is situated on the corner of Belmont Terrance and Fort Street. This fort was used by the British to keep the Baakens River safe in 1977, and as the name suggest, it was named after the Duke of York. It was also used to send English troops to support the Graaff-Reinet rebels to stop the invasion of the French. No shot was ever fired from that fort in anger. The fort is free to visit from sunrise to sunset every day. Another place of interest is the Donkin reserve where the large stone pyramid was build in memory of Sir Rufane Donkin's wife Elizabeth. Our city, Port Elizabeth, was also named after his beloved wife. One can go on forever about all the interesting places in this location, such as The lighthouse, The Castle Hill Museum, The King Edward hotel and so much more, each building rich in history and one more intriguing than the other.
Some activities to consider on your next or future visit to Central in Port Elizabeth:
" Art in the park, whether it is to sell or to shop.
" The St Georges Park to have a family picnic or relaxing walk.
" Visiting Ford Frederick to relive the history that took place there.
" Taking a walk through the Donkin Reserve and visit the pyramid.
" Go to the Art museum, the entrance is free, and the contents are ever changing thus providing constant interest and you will visit more than once!

If you're planning to visit or deciding to stay, come on over to this magnificent part of town and make this intriguing area filled with excitement the place for you!
