HUMANSDORP
Humansdorp is nestled between the towns of St Francis Bay and Jeffreys Bay and the picturesque great Winterhoek Mountains.
It is the service centre for a fertile and flourishing farming area. Of interest in the town is the Museum, the Boskloof Hiking Trail and the Kouga Cultural Centre. Yearly events include the Humansdorp Agricultural Show and the Kouga Cultural Festival. It is centrally situated to a number of interesting places to visit. A short drive away you will find Thornhill, boasting the Longmore Flower Trail and one can view caracal, antelope, birds and raptors at the African Dawn Animal Sanctuary. Loerie is internationally known for hosting the Great Train Race in August/September and the Loerie Reserve is an added attraction. A few kilometers away is Hankey, the Gamtoos Valley’s oldest town and home to the largest sundial in Africa . Patensie, is renowned for its citrus farming and being the largest tobacco producing area in the country. The Baviaanskloof area is a must see, offering rugged mountain passes, towering gorges and numerous river crossings with rare and diverse animal, bird and plant species. |
