THE HISTORY OF CHAS EVERITT

Charles Everitt was born in Caracas, Venezuela, South America.  His father decided to retire to South Africa and to follow his dream of farming.  Charles followed his parents to the country.  Charles met Tilla, his wife, the neighbouring farmer's daughter, and got married.  They had three sons, Paul, Chris and Berry, all of whom are an integral part of Chas Everitt Estates.

Charles had always had a passion for people, so he ventured into the business world as a Unilever trainee in sales and marketing.  Later on he changed to a pharmaceutical career and at the age of 37 was appointed as Sales Director to the board of an American Multinational Pharmaceutical Company.

In January 1980, Chas Everitt Estates was born with Chas as the agent, Tilla as the building society manager, and Mavis Brown as the canvasser.  Through God's blessing, hard work and diligent efforts, the company has grown to be one of the major Estate Agencies in the country. Mavis Brown was awarded non-executive director status for excellent sales results and long service.  We believe that people are our greatest asset and accordingly spend time continuously improving the standard of professionalism of our staff.  Many of our sales associates and staff have completed in excess of 10 years' service with the Company, and we boast one of the best retention rates in the industry. Chas Everitt was awarded the coveted Real Estate Company of the year award for 2001 and 2002 out of more than 400 companies associated with a JSE listed group, Jigsaw Holdings Ltd.

Chas Everitt was chosen to represent South Africa abroad for eight out of the ten years of membership to ERA.  Our sales associates were also the best in the ERA stable, walking off with the Best Agent;  Best Team and Best Office awards from 1997 to 2002.

Berry Everitt was awarded the "Young Lion" of the real estate industry in 2001, and the "Mover and Shaker" of the Real Estate industry in 2002 by the Property Professional club, the industry's only independent quality evaluators. Once the group took the decision to enter the franchising arena, Barry Davies, former CEO of the Realty 1 Elk Group, was brought on board as CEO Chas Everitt International Franchising, bringing another area of expertise to the Group.

Plans by Chas Everitt International to establish a national franchise network got off to a cracking start on the 1st of May 2003 with the launch of the group's first five franchise offices in Cape Town with a further three Gauteng offices located in Centurion, Brits and Boksburg. Cape Town offices will serve the key City Bowl, Constantiaberg, Southern Suburbs, Table View and Somerset West markets, with further offices being planned in Atlantic Seaboard, Fishoek and Northern Suburbs. Chas Everitt International is continually striving to improve and innovate the service offering to all parties in our value chain.
