HOSTEL MON DE SIR - CHAS EVERITT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

“Roll-on Deodorant, a size 13-14 dress, black school shoes.”  “Pocket money to buy our matron a present, she gives us so much love.  That’s all.”  That is the wish list of one of 17 primary school children who live in Mon de Sir, a Children’s Home in Hankey.  Chas Everitt is pledging your assistance to make a difference to these children’s lives.

“Just go through your home and find the unwanted toys or too small clothes and bring it to any of our offices,” John Cooper asks.  “These children have nothing, an old rugby ball would make a difference.”  A mass collection of unwanted items in your home will already fill a few gaps and would mean so much to these children.

John Cooper has also requested his agents to each adopt a child, to help them with small gifts to fill their Christmas stocking this year.  “Maybe there are some of our older generation with more time on their hands, who would like to join us?” John asked.

These children cannot live with their parents for a multitude of reasons, and the hostel receives no state grant to cover the food bill.  “It is nice at the hostel, we are a big loving family,” one of the letters to Father Christmas read.  “We eat nice food, we sleep in warm beds, have nice clothes, but could I please have one summer school shirt, nr 3 black school shoes, school stationery and a small toy?  That is all I need.”

Chas Everitt will give ongoing assistance as far as the maintenance of the buildings and other desperate issues are concerned with the support of local businesses and suppliers.  “I was shocked to see how little these children have.  On the wish lists are also items such as a bicycle or a MP3-player, but all of them asked for school clothes and stationery, as they know that is more important.  Some of them only has one school shirt, and washes it every day after school for the next day,” John said.  “They are also sharing clothes, as there are just not enough.”

If you are able to assist in any way, please bring anything you can to any of the Eastern Cape Chas Everitt Branches such as the offices in Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp or St Francis Bay to improve the living requirements of these beautiful children.  Any donation (clothes, linen, food, toys, building material) is welcome and will be appreciated.  For more information, please contact John Cooper on 042 294 0921.  To make a Donation of money, please bank into Albert Saunders Trust Account; Standard Bank ; Branch Humansdorp; Branch Code 018105; Account Number 281 401 551; Reference Hankey Kinderhuis + Persons Name.  Please email amanda@stfrancislegal.co.za deposit details. Thank you for your assistance.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!!

As you are well aware we have adopted the Hostel Mon de Sir Children’s Home in Hankey which will be an ongoing project for us.

We sought your help and you supported us and we want to say a huge THANK YOU for your overwhelming generosity.

With the help of all the people in the Chas Everitt Eastern Cape branches, we organized a fun-day and Christmas Party for the children on November 26.

The day began with the children being collected from school and taken for a cruise around the Canals and a swim; sandwiches and cool drink were eagerly devoured and excitement was at fever pitch.

We then proceeded to my Oyster Bay farm and the children were delighted with the farm animals.  Games like soccer and cricket were set up as well as a water slide, jumping castle and guessing games.

In between all this excitement they enjoyed a braai lunch and of course the arrival of Chas Bear who dispensed gifts to them all (Chas Bear was me outfitted in costume which caused much amusement!).

From your incredible donations and gifts, each child received a large Christmas bag filled with school shoes and uniforms, stationery, T-shirts, toys, cosmetics and sweets.  And … each child received a bicycle!!  No-one can describe the faces of these children as they dipped in and took out the items, each as precious as the next, and joy and amazement written all over their faces. Truck loads of additional items have been taken out to the Home and will be allocated and used appropriately for the benefit of the children.  Early in January the Chas Team will be revamping and renovating the home – again with the help of you our donors. Anna, the house mother, assisted by her husband, Tienie, is doing a wonderful job looking after the children with no official assistance. We salute them for their kind hearts and dedication and it will be Chas Everitt’s pleasure and commitment to ensure they receive ongoing help so that each child receives food, clothes and shelter.

Please accept my heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks for your contribution to our quest and for your commitment to support us in this venture.   Together we can make such a difference to the lives of these young people.  We will keep you updated on our progress.

God Bless

John Cooper and Team
